JV Wildcats fall to 0-1
The JV Wildcats missed out on winning their home opener. The Boone JV squad scored 12 points in the final quarter to steal the win from the Cats 20-17. The Carlisle scoring was a result of Nolan Vollstedt's 6 yard run and PAT by Jose Fuentes. In the second half Jaryd Veith navigated through the secondary to score on a 35 yard run. Again the PAT by Fuentes was good and he later tacked on a 36 yard field goal to put the Cats in the lead. Unfortunately, Boone answered with a TD in the waning moments of the game to take the win. Offensive notables were Payton Burris throwing for 173 yards connecting with receivers 13 times out of 23 attempts with no interceptions. Leading the receivers were Spencer Endecott with 55 yards on 5 receptions and Noah Smith with 3 catches for 46 yards. Jose Fuentes converted the PAT's. In the second quarter Bradley Hydorn stepped in front of an Osky pass and sprinted for 32 yards to score a defensive TD. Fuentes again converted the PAT. JV Finishes Season with 28-3 Win
On a soggy October evening the young men from Carlisle dominated Norwalk, winning 28-3. The first half started out a little sketchy with 2 fumbles resulting in Norwalk scoring their only points. Jake Epp intercepted a Norwalk pass and took it to the house (27 yards) for Carlisle’s only first half TD. On the very next series Epp intercepted another pass to bring the half to an end. In the second half the Wildcats came out and held onto the slippery ball and marched up and down the field. 94% of our yards came in the second half due to monumental effort of the linemen and yeoman like work by Jaryd Veith scoring three touchdowns of 19, 30 and 52 yard runs. Dylan Pinkney had a perfect night with PAT’s and also did a great job averaging over 45 yards on kick-offs and 34 yards punting. This was no small feat… pause for effect, on such a wet, cold and rainy night.
Defensively the Cats did their jobs. They held the Norwalk team to 153 yards. The Wildcats took the ball away from the Norwalk offense 5 times, the two interceptions mentioned above and 3 vicious strips and recoveries by Carlisle. Leading the tackle tally was Hunter Warren with 9, Mason Mumm with 7 and Noah Smith and Joey Hinds with 6 each.
