The Wildcats traveled to Boone for a non-district game on August 24th for their season opener. Things did not go according to plan and the Toreadors came away with a 21-10 victory to drop Carlisle to 0-1.
The offense was lead by sophomore quarterback Josh Hagedorn who was 11-20 for 99 yards and one touchdown in the air and also rushed for 54 yards on 10 carries. Dan Hupke added 37 yards on the ground on ten rushes. Jacob Klier and Dallas Loney both had three receptions while Trevor Joiner led the receiving corp with 2 catches for 29 yards. Loney had the Cats lone touchdown on a 4th quarter reception.
Carlisle was led defensively by Joiner who had a team high 16 tackles. Senior outside linebacker Chris Casey finished with 11 tackles while Loney had 10 stops. Loney also forced a fumble.
Sophomore kicker Jose Fuentes rounded out the teams scoring by kicking a 26 yard field goal and he also went 1-1 on extra points.
The Cats are back in action next Friday when they host the Ballard Bombers in another non-district game. GAME STATS

Cats Beat Bombers for First Win
Sophomore kicker Jose Fuentes kicked two field goals with the last one coming with just over a minute to go in the 4th quarter to lead the Wildcats to a 13-10 non-district win over Ballard. Fuentes connected on a 22 yards field goal and a 36 yard field goal as well as going 1-1 on PAT's.
Carlisle sprinted out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter following a 54 yard run by Josh Hagedorn that put the Cats with first and goal before fellow sophomore KC McMullen scored on a one yard run. Fuentes' field goal put the Cats ahead 10-0 before a penalty in the endzone led to a safety for Ballard pushing the score to 10-2. Ballard would then score with just over 4 minutes to go in the game and tacked on a two-point conversion to tie the score at 10. Two big passing plays from Hagedorn to Trevor Joiner and from Hagedorn to Bradley Hydorn put the Cats in field goal range before Fuentes kicked the game winner. Joiner sealed the win with his first interception of the season with just over thirty second remaining in the game.
Sophomore Ty Erb led the rushing attack with 69 yards on 13 carries while Hagedorn went 3-15 passing for 62 yards. Hydorn led the receiving corp with 33 yards.
Defensively the Cats held the Bombers to less than 150 yards of total offense. Senior Nate Stickley had 17 tackles while Joiner chipped in with 10. Joiner, McMullen, and Justin Dillon all had interceptions while Daniel Hupke and Devon Wenthe each had a fumble recovery. GAME STATS

Cats improve to 2-1 with win over Osky
The Carlisle Wildcat football team improved their record to 2-1 overall and to 1-0 in Class 3A District 8 with a 29-22 victory over the visiting Oskaloosa Indians. The Cats built a 22-0 lead in the first quarter behind running back Daniel Hupke and the offensive line. Hupke scored on runs of 43 and 49 yards and later had a 4 yard touchdown run. Hupke finished with 229 yards rushing on 19 carries and three touchdowns. Sophomore KC McMullen gained 52 yards on 12 carries including a touchdown. Quarterback Josh Hagedorn finished 2-6 for 22 yards passing. Junior Jacob Klier had both receptions including a big 21 yard catch to keep a drive alive late in the 4th quarter.
Defensively Carlisle was again led by senior linebacker Nate Stickley. Stickley finished with 17 total tackles while fellow inside linebacker Trevor Joiner recorded 12 stops. Senior defensive tackle Ben Burnett also broke into double digit tackles with 10, including two pass knockdowns. Junior outside linebacker Devon Wenthe had a huge interception to start the second half that lead to a two play scoring drive.
Carlisle is back in District 8 action again next Friday night when they travel to Winterset to take on the 2-1 Huskies. GAME STATS
Cats fall to Winterset 21-17
Winterset came back from a 17-7 deficit to clip the Wildcats by the final score of 21-17. Carlisle falls to 2-2 overall, and 1-1 in Class 3A District 8 play.
The Cats built a 17-7 lead at the half behind the sophomore trio of quarterback Josh Hagedorn, running back KC McMullen, and kicker Jose Fuentes. Hagedorn and McMullen each had first half touchdown runs and Fuentes went 2-2 on PAT's and also kicked a 21 yard field goal. Winterset had several big plays in the 2nd half and the Cats could not capitalize on good field position.
Senior fullback led the ground game with 111 yards on 22 carries. McMullen added 89 yards on 20 carries while Hagedorn finished with 42 yards on 7 carries. Hagedorn finished 8-21 passing for 85 yards. Junior tight end Trevor Joiner had three catches for 37 yards to lead the team in receptions and yards. Dallas Loney, Jacob Klier, Ty Erb, and Hupke all had catches for the Wildcats.
Defensively the Cats were led by Joiner who finished with 11 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble. Senior linebacker Nathan Stickley finished with 12 stops while Loney had 8. Hupke had 7 total tackles including two tackles for loss. Erb pitched in with the team's second interception. The Cats held the Huskies to less than 100 yards rushing on 26 carries but allowed 180 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.

Cats fall in Homecoming Tilt
The Wildcats turned the football over six times in their 35-7 loss to Pella on Homecoming. The Dutch gained 346 yards of total offense while the Cats managed just 160. Pella took advantage of big plays throughout the night with a 49 yard rush, a 40 yard bootleg pass, and a 50 yard fumble recovery and return for a TD.
Dan Hupke paced the offense with 54 yards rushing on nine carries. KC McMullen had 37 yards and 1 TD on 13 carries to lead the Cat's ground attack. Sophomore QB Josh Hagedorn was 6-12 passing for 61 yards with 1 interception. The leading receiver was Trevor Joiner with 3 catches for 52 yards.
Defensively the Cats were led by Nate Stickley with 17 tackles including 1 TFL. Trevor Joiner had 11 stops while Dallas Loney had 10 stops from his free safety position. Senior Defensive End Chris Casey had nine tackles while Hupke finished with six tackles including a sack and an interception. Stickley and senior outside linebacker Justin Dillon had fumble recoveries.

Carlisle moves to 3-3 with 34-13 Win
Carlisle sprinted to an early lead and scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to defeat the Knoxville Panthers 34-13 in a Class 3A District 8 game played at Knoxville.
The Carlisle defense held a potent Knoxville offense to a total of 149 yards of total offense and gained a punishing total of 307 yards rushing (329 yards of total offense) to move to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in district play. The offense started and ended with senior fullback Daniel Hupke who gained 197 tough yards on 27 carries and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore tailback KC McMullen pitched in with 64 yards on 13 carries and one TD. Quarterback Josh Hagedorn finished with 42 yards on 8 carries. Hagedorn was 4-9 passing for 22 yards and one touchdown (caught by Chris Casey).
Defensively the Cats executed a solid game plan to stifle the district's second leading passing attack of Knoxville. The Panthers went 8-16 passing for 59 yards and two interceptions after coming into the game averaging over 141 yards per game. Senior Justin Dillon and sophomore Ty Erb had picks for the Cats. Knoxville also boasted the district's second leading rusher in Colton Spaur who averaged 127 yards per game. The defense held Spaur to 59 yards on 15 carries which was 68 yards below his season average. Senior Nathan Stickley led Carlisle again with 17 tackles including one tackle for loss. Fellow inside linebacker Trevor Joiner had 13 stops while outside linebacker Devon Wenthe and free safety Dallas Loney each had 10 stops. Senior defensive ends Chris Casey and Hupke each had solo sacks on the night.
The Cats move to non-district play this week as they travel to Centerville on Friday, October 5th to take on the Big Reds in out-of-district action in Week 7.

Wildcats win 42-6
Senior running back Daniel Hupke had a huge night with 236 yards rushing on 26 carries to lead the Carlisle Wildcat varsity football team to a 42-6 non-district win over the Centerville Reds. Hupke tied a school-record with 5 rushing touchdowns. The offensive line of Luke Oja, Nathan Stickley, Grant Davis, Nate Lo, and Austin Postier along with tight ends Trevor Joiner, Justin Dillon, and Chris Casey all did their part in helping the team amass 303 rushing yards on 45 carries.
Sophomore running back KC McMullen touched the football in many different ways en route to 187 all-purpose yards. McMullen had 56 yards rushing on 11 carries, one reception for 27 yards, one interception return for 38 yards, two kickoff returns for 44 yards, and two punt returns for 22 yards. Josh Hagedorn was 2-4 passing for 44 yards including a 17 yard touchdown to tight end Trevor Joiner.
The defense limited Centerville to 164 yards of total offense with a total of only 14 rushing yards on 21 carries. Senior inside linebacker Nathan Stickley led the defense with 15 tackles while Joiner finished with 9 and Hupke with 7. Ben Burnett and Chris Casey each had sack while Hupke had three tackles for loss in the win.
Sophomore kicker Jose Fuentes was a perfect 6-6 on extra point attempts.

Senior Night a Success
Despite not starting the varsity game vs. Chariton on Senior Night until after 9:30pm due to lightning delays, the Carlisle varsity football team still managed a 35-0 victory in the Class 3A District 8 contest. With the win, the Cats moved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the district. The Chargers fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the district.
The Wildcats have 13 seniors in the program that the coaching staff would like to thank for all of their hard work over the last four years: Joey Ermler, Dallas Loney, Austin Ruppert, Daniel Gramowski, Dylan Pinckney, Daniel Hupke, Nate Lo, David Reid, Grant Davis, Austin Postier, Ben Burnett, Chris Casey, and Justin Dillon.
The defense pitched its first shutout of the season. The team was led in tackles by Nathan Stickley with 13 including two tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. Senior defensive tackle Ben Burnett was the second leading tackler with 8 stops followed by Spencer Endecott with 7. Trevor Joiner and Chris Casey each had 5 total tackles. Stickley, Casey, and Nate Lo all had solo sacks.
Offensively the team was led by workhorse Daniel Hupke. The senior fullback went over the 1,000 yard mark for the season as he finished with 14 carries for 181 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Sophomore tailback Kichanch McMullen toted the ball six times for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Austin Ruppert was the team's third leading rusher with 32 yards on 7 carries. Quarterback Josh Hagedorn went 3-6 passing for 51 yards and 1 TD. Loney caught his first TD reception of the season.
Junior punter Bradley Hydorn had a booming 72 yard punt and another 40 yarder on the night to set a new school record for average punt yardage in a game with a 56 yard average.
Carlisle is back in action on Friday, October 19th at Norwalk in a game that has huge playoff implications. This is the regular season finale for both squads.
Norwalk sneaks past Carlisle
The Norwalk Warriors used two big offensive plays and a stifling defense to defeat the Carlisle Wildcats 14-7 in the last regular season game for both teams.
Carlisle finished the regular season with a 5-4 record including a 3-3 record in Class 3A District 8 play. Norwalk improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in district play. The Cats received the district's 4th seed for the playoffs and will travel to Williamsburg to take on the #4 ranked Raiders on Wednesday, October 24th.
Daniel Hupke was once again the workhorse for the Wildcat offense. Hupke rushed for 137 yards on 32 carries and scored the team's lone touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Josh Hagedorn ran for 61 yards on 8 carries while fellow sophomore KC McMullen finished with 41 yards on 14 carries. The Cats rushed for 244 yards and passed for 8 yards on 1-6 passing.
Norwalk's high-octane offense was held in check by the Carlisle defense. Norwalk came into the game averaging 378 yards of total offense per game. The Cat defense limited Norwalk to 259 total yards (68 yards passing, 191 yards rushing) but gave up two big plays (70 yard TD run, 32 yard TD run) that provided enough points for the Warriors to come out on top. Junior linebacker Trevor Joiner had 13 tackles including two sacks, and two tackles for loss. Fellow inside linebacker Nathan Stickley finished with 15 tackles including five solo stops.
Raiders too much for Cats
The #5 ranked Williamsburg Raiders were too much for the Wildcats as they built a comfortable 21-0 lead before tacking on two more scores in the 2nd half. The Cats responded with a touchdown in the fourth quarter but it was too little too late. Carlisle wrapped up its season with a 5-5 record (3-3 in district play) and its fourth straight playoff appearance and fifth in the last six years. The Wildcats were state semi-finalists in 2007 and state quarterfinalists in 2010. Williamsburg improved their record to 9-1 with the win and will face Pella in the second round of the playoffs on Monday, October 29th.
Senior fullback Daniel Hupke went over the 1,400 yard rushing mark on the season with 179 yards on 22 carries. He also scored his 15th rushing touchdown of the season. As a team, the Cats rushed for a total of 203 yards and threw for 81 yards on 6-20 passing. Ty Erb had three catches for 52 yards while Dallas Loney has two catches for 21 yards.
Defensively the Cats were led in tackles by senior Nathan Stickley with 18 stops. Senior free safety Dallas Loney had 15 total tackles while junior inside linebacker Trevor Joiner finished with 14. Justin Dillon, KC McMullen, and Ben Burnett all finished with nine stops.
