The Carlisle varsity football team is used to facing adversity. In their Class 3A District 8 match-up with Knoxville there was plenty of just that. The teams took the field an hour and half early due to the impending weather and Knoxville jumped out to an early 7-0 lead behind an 87 yard catch and run on Knoxville's third play from scrimmage. This would be all the scoring that Panthers would muster as Carlisle would dominate the time of possession clock en route to a 28-7 victory. The Wildcat offense put several scoring drives together to take the ball out of the Panthers' hands. The Cats gained 438 yards on the night. Junior Ty Erb rushed for 126 tough yards on 20 carries while scoring 3 TD's. Backfield mate KC McMullen picked up 74 yards on 74 carries and several key first downs to keep drives alive. Sophomore Mason Henrichs also got in on the rushing attack with 4 carries for 17 yards.
Sophomore quarterback Jordan Pierce accounted for nearly 200 yards of total offense as he rushed for 38 yards on nine carries and also went 10 of 16 in the passing department. His two favorite receivers were senior receiver Jake Epp who caught 3 balls for 85 yards (including a 55 yard TD) and junior tight end Noah Smith who also reeled in three catches for 65 yards. Senior Jacob Klier finished with two catches for 10 yards while McMullen and Erb both had one reception for 15 and 11 yards respectively.
Despite giving up the big play to start the game, the Carlisle defense settled in and played assignment sound football, limiting the Panthers to just 170 yards of offense on 46 plays the rest of the evening. Linebackers Spencer Endecott led on the tackle chart with 12 and 9 tackles. Epp and Erb both finished with five stops while sophomore Andrew Hill had a sack. Junior cornerback Henry Sanders had an interception and several other pass break-ups.
